Vicki Pracht Kirn

Founder, Arbuckles

read more about Vicki

What started as a fundraiser for the victims of the 2015 Nepal earthquake became a life-changing journey for this Colorado native living and working in Switzerland. As Vicki watched her young daughter and fan club grow along with her carefully nurtured sourdough starter, she knew it was time to transition from human resources manager to food entrepreneur. Named after her beloved grandmother, Arbuckles’ mission was simple – bringing bagels back home. Bite by bite, these popular hand-rolled bagels made their way into the hearts and tummies of the people in Basel and across Switzerland. During the pandemic, the business continued to grow. Along the way, Vicki began to put her big vision in motion – to support other food entrepreneurs like herself who wanted to share food from their home countries. Listening to her internal voice say it was time to return to her homeland, Vicki recently passed along the apron strings of Arbuckles to two passionate local bakers. While her bagel legacy lives on here in Basel, she and her family are settling into life in the Pacific Northwestern US, just outside Seattle. A recent photo of her daughter full of smiles as they volunteered for a local organization speaks volumes about the journey.
